The Art of Capturing Shadows – Photograms of Nature Workshop

October 8 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

In collaboration with Sweet Peas Urban Gardens…

Join us at an incredible urban farm that is making a big difference! This weekend we’re learning the art of cyanotype photograms with local artist Sarah Ann Austin-Bagley.

Join Sarah for a peaceful immersion in nature where she will guide you through the process of capturing photograms of natural images directly on her handmade paper. Through this experience, you will learn the ins and outs of creating breathtaking cyanotype photograms, make a few yourselves, and take a bunch home. Sarah is offering this experience at a highly discounted rate so other members of the community can enjoy creating photograms and understand the fascinating process behind the art.

Cyanotype photograms are created with coated paper and light exposure. Items to cover the paper are arranged however your creativity leads you to and then left in the sun to process. Sarah focuses on capturing the raw beauty of nature in her artwork. She often uses pieces of nature as the focal point of her art and incorporates recycled plant cuttings and clothing into her handmade paper.

While your photograms are being processed by the sun, you will get to tour Sweet Peas Urban Gardens with manager Tami Purdue. They will showcase how much can be accomplished in an urban landscape, from micro-greens to 20-foot-tall flowers and more!

*All supplies are included plus you’ll get to take home half a dozen photograms of your own creation!
