With Angela Salamanca:

Restaurateur and activist Angela Salamanca moved to Raleigh from Colombia in her teens, went to UNC-Chapel Hill and got into the restaurant business through family. She opened Centro in 2007 and expanded her business to Gallo Pelón and Ex Voto in Durham Food Hall

This experiences features her Gallo Pelon Mezcaleria, the first Mezcal Bar in the southeast. It is a community-driven bar that honors the artistry of traditional mezcal and craft cocktails as a whole with decor and offerings that represent the Colombian heritage of its owner.

Description

We welcome you into our beautiful space to guide you through a curated mezcal tasting. Four different agaves will be presented by our mezcal ambassador with tasting notes and commentary on their individual origin, production and tradition.

The pallette of mezcal is vast and well enjoyed alongside ernest food. We’ll be exploring these diverse flavors with a complimentary garnish tray and a personal nacho “ignacio” plate to enliven your stomach and deepen your experience. Even if you don’t fall in love with the bold flavor of mezcal your first time, we promise you’ll leave with a greater appreciation and knowledge of the world’s rarest and most amazing spirit.
